1. What this covers
This Cookie Policy explains how Storysea ("we," "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on www.storysea.io (the "Service").

2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a site. They help the site remember things between page loads, such as whether you are signed in.
We also use similar tools, mainly local storage and session storage. Those live in your browser too. They are not cookies, but they do related jobs (preferences, short drafts, and temporary UI state).
3. Cookies we use
The cookies below are needed for the Service to work. The Service sets them as you use Storysea. You can reject them when we first ask in the cookie banner, or block them later in your browser. Either way, login and other core features may stop working.
- `sb-zmditflgdqmdjwukprye-auth-token` (your browser may show this as several pieces, such as `.0` or `.1`): keeps you signed in and secures your session. Duration: while you remain signed in. It refreshes as your session renews, and is removed when you sign out or clear site data.
- `storysea_discovery_session`: gives your browser a random session id so explore and recommendations can stay consistent for you, including when you are not signed in. Duration: about 1 year.
- `storysea-sidebar-open`: remembers whether the main app sidebar is open or closed. Duration: about 1 month.
- `chat_inbox_tab`: remembers which chat inbox tab you last used (`messages` or `roleplay`). Duration: about 1 week.
4. Similar technologies
Besides cookies, Storysea may store small pieces of data in your browser. Examples:
- `storysea-cookie-consent`: remembers whether you accepted or rejected optional analytics.
- `storysea-theme`, `storysea-reader-font-size`, and `storysea-reader-font-family`: remember theme and reading display preferences.
- `storysea:signup-draft`: holds unfinished signup answers on your device so a refresh does not wipe the form. This can include account draft details such as email, date of birth, username, and genre choices. It does not store your password.
- `navbar_recent_searches`: recent search terms you used in the navbar.
- `storysea.writeEditor.sidebar.v1:` (plus a story id): remembers whether the write-editor sidebar is open and which section you had open for that story.
We may also use short-lived session storage for temporary UI helpers during a single browser session (for example keeping a search panel state while you move around, or draft fields while you edit a character). Those clear when you close the tab or end the session.
5. Optional analytics
If you accept in our consent prompt, we load Vercel Analytics so we can see how the site is used in aggregate, for example which pages people open.
Vercel Analytics does not set a cookie on your device. If you reject, the Service still works. We simply do not load that analytics tooling.
Your Accept or Reject choice is stored in local storage as `storysea-cookie-consent` (see section 4).
6. Changing your mind
If you accepted or rejected optional analytics before and want to change that:
- Clear Storysea site data (cookies and local storage) for this site in your browser, then reload the page so the consent prompt can appear again
- Or block cookies for this site in your browser settings
Essential cookies may still be set after you clear data, because login and basic operation need them.
